Terms of Use

In short
Read the site, quote it, link to it, teach from it. Credit us and don’t misrepresent what we said.
We write about science, including medicine and controlled substances. None of it is medical advice, and none of it is encouragement to obtain or use anything illegal.
We describe research as accurately as we can, and we mark how strong the evidence is. We do not promise it is correct.
Who we are
This site is published by Oryx Research Group (“Oryx”, “we”). By using oryxresearch.org you accept these terms. If you do not, please do not use the site.
Nothing here is medical advice
Oryx publishes about biomedical research, including psychedelics, ageing, and neuroscience. Everything on this site is science communication and education. It is not medical, clinical, psychological, or legal advice, it is not a diagnosis or a treatment recommendation, and reading it does not create a doctor–patient relationship.
Never delay or disregard professional medical advice because of something you read here. If you are unwell, talk to a qualified clinician. In an emergency, contact your local emergency service.
Controlled substances
Some research we cover involves substances that are controlled or illegal in many places, including psilocybin. Reporting on a study is not an endorsement, an instruction, or an invitation. We do not tell anyone how to obtain, produce, dose, or use any controlled substance, and nothing here should be read as encouragement to do so.
Studies conducted in animals, in cell cultures, or under medical supervision do not translate into safe use by anyone else. Where we report such a study, that limitation is the point, not a footnote.
How we handle evidence
We label how strong the evidence behind a claim is, and we describe the limitations of the work we cover. We aim to be accurate and we correct ourselves in public when we are not. We do not warrant that any statement on this site is complete, current, or correct, and research we describe today may be revised or overturned tomorrow. That is how science works, and following it is part of what this site is for.
Found a mistake? Tell us. We would rather be corrected than be wrong.
Our writing, and using it
The words, design, and original graphics on this site are © Oryx Research Group. You may quote passages, reproduce a figure, and link to us for commentary, teaching, reporting, and research, provided you credit Oryx Research Group and link to the page you took it from. Do not republish whole pieces, present our work as your own, or edit a quote so that it says something we did not say.
Other people’s work
Oryx writes about published research. Papers, figures, data, and images produced by other researchers stay under their own copyright and licences, which we identify where we use them. Those terms govern that material, not ours, and permission from us is neither given nor sufficient. Where a figure is credited to a paper, go to the paper.
If you believe something here infringes your rights, write to [email protected] with the detail and we will look at it promptly.
Fair use of the site
Please do not attack the site, break its security, or scrape it in a way that degrades it for other people. Reading, indexing, and citing are welcome — including by AI systems, which we would rather have cite us accurately than paraphrase us badly.
Links out
We link to journals, preprint servers, data repositories, and coverage we did not write. We do not control those sites and are not responsible for them.
No warranty, and limits
The site is provided “as is”, without warranties of any kind, to the fullest extent the law allows. To the extent permitted by law, Oryx is not liable for indirect or consequential losses arising from your use of the site or reliance on its contents. Nothing here limits any liability that cannot lawfully be limited.
Governing law
These terms are governed by the laws of the State of Illinois, United States, without regard to its conflict of law rules. If you use the site from elsewhere, you are responsible for complying with your own local law.
Changes
We may update these terms; the date at the top will change when we do. Continuing to use the site after that means you accept the revision.
